To be fair, he had made sweeping generalisations and wild accusations, but the word bigot was objected to.

NOX - FYI - the post in question was not acidic - it was personal and unpleasant, and i took exception to it.

Spare Ed removed it because as a personal insult, it contravenes the Site Rules, and has nothing to do with the spirit of debate - however heated.

naomi24 - I would wish to add my voice to those who request that you reconsider your decision to leave the site.

If that choice is connected to the personal exchanges between us, then i think that is a shame - and would reiterate that i would not wish to see you depart - and hope you reconisder and re-join the thread.

If so I see nothing in that remark, whether it's accurate or not, which makes it a particularly unpleasant attack- we've all been called worse both on and off here and in the really real world it's a pretty tame statement.

I called the Christian B&B couple bigots the other week in a thread and maybe that should have been removed as well. Maybe it was because it was to someone actually on AB which is why it was removed.

Does to me - as far as I am concerned, tolerence is the cornerstone of a civilised society, and as i have said, I may be verbose, opinionated, sarcastic, very very occasionally quick-tempered, but I am not and never have been, or will be a bigot.

Our opinions aside - the post did contravene Site Rules and was removed as a consequence - if naomi takes exception to that, then her fight is with the editorial controllers of the site - rather than with me.
