I need to do a bit of business in a Santander about 10 miles away.

I ordered some money to picked up here there today.

At 9.30 this morning received a call from a light-talking lady leaving me with a light sounding number and I can't understand it.

I then googled and am getting a mains operated guy from Scotland - I can't understand him either - I can't even understand my 3 nieces and nephews in Scotland.

Anyway is there anyway I can contact these guys via another number????

Email is too late as they are holding the money for so long. thanks

Could you just not go to the branch?

Do a 1471 and see if it left a number

Phone the Scottish call centre explain you are deaf and ask for them to speak slowly and loudly.
Jenny...to be honest I am having difficulty with light-talking and mains operated !

10 miles doesn't sound so far, as long as you have your own transport, so perhaps it best if you go to the Branch.

thanks all - did go to the branch - they have just half the money so have to go back tomorrow - ah well. it is truly awful being deaf sometimes. could be worse eh?
Question Author

mikey - hard of hearing - stone blo%dy corned beef as my dad would say

my consultant last year wanted to put me forward for a cochlear implant - no way at my age. I am on my way out!!!
Why don't you get text talk installed and then you won't have this issue future.
On your way out at 60 something??? Are you kidding?
Is text talk one of those special screen phones Islay?

I think I am ladybirder - took Maxie to a beautiful park about 30 miles away. Tried to jump down a wee tiny wall maybe a foot - nearly was a goner LOL
jennyjoan, I do some volunteering for AOHL and they do some marvellous gadgets even telephones for the deaf. Maybe there is something here that can help you in your everyday life.

All in the mind jj so please stop thinking of yourself as old cos you ain't. Read somewhere recently that a survey of OAPs found 85 is the age when one becomes old nowadays with longevity improving, better healthcare etc. You have another 20 years if you are in your early/mid 60s as I remember, until you can consider yourself old.
But if you must go jumping off walls then there is no hope of you getting there. Bet Maxie enjoyed himself though. x
Question Author
sharon - I have got by this 60 years and I will get by the next if only I will stop jumping walls.

I thought when I saw your links - they were ways of jumping walls LOL - thanks for that anyway.

In town the other day and couldn't stand a moment longer waiting for the bus - sat down on the kerb and immediately flipped over - can't tell you how many people were laughing - I wasn't laughing when I tried to get up - it is awful to be so old. LOL
Question Author
LB I keep saying it is all in the mind - but the body doesn't think the same way unfortunately LOL
Question Author
for attention of Islay - you mentioned

Why don't you get text talk installed and then you won't have this issue future.

Could you provide me with a link or something - it is something I would be interested in. I have googled but to no avail. Thanks
Question Author
