1)Step forward Zesh Rehman, who made his full debut for Fulham at Liverpool in 2004 and went on to make 21 Premier League appearances for the Cottagers before moving first to QPR and then Bradford. The defender/midfielder was born in Birmingham but holds dual British/Pakistani nationality. He also qualified to play for Pakistan because of his Pakistani parentage and has won nine caps for his country, having previously played for England at under-18, 19 and 20 levels. Rehman signed a two-year deal with Thai Premier League outfit Muangthong in December 2010.

4)Cristiano Ronaldo became the first player to receive the European Golden Shoe (formerly Boot) award when playing in two different leagues after scoring 40 La Liga goals for Real Madrid in 2010-11. His previous success was in 2007-08, in which season he scored 31 Premier League goals for Manchester United. Ronaldo becomes the ninth player to have won the award twice, the others being Gerd Muller, Eusebio, Dudu Georgescu, Fernando Gomes, Ally McCoist, Mario Jardel, Thierry Henry and Diego Forlan.

8)The creator of BBC1's New Tricks drama series is Roy Mitchell, an ardent West Brom fan who's been watching the team for more than 40 years. He subtly paid tribute to his beloved Baggies by naming the series's principal male characters Jack Halford, Brian Lane and Gerry Standing, who's played by Dennis Waterman, above left. If you put those three names together you get Halford Lane Standing, a hidden reference to the Halfords Lane Stand at The Hawthorns
