Christmas greetings from me to all of the Friday quiz ‘regulars’ (and, of course, to ‘occasional visitors’ and ‘first-timers’ too!)
It’s time for the big BBC Quiz of The Year but I’ll just get a few other things out of the way first though:
ADVERT NUMBER ONE: For anyone who’s not yet seen Woodelf’s website (which I know that he’s keen to promote) and who would like to see his fine paintings (which he’s created despite being totally blind) please click here: http://theartsight.000webhostapp.com/index.htm
ADVERT NUMBER TWO: For anyone who enjoys wildlife photos, and who missed the handful of seal pics I posted a couple of days ago, please see here: https://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/ChatterBank/Question1778068.html
(They’re not exhibition quality but I still quite like them anyway)
Moving on at last then . . .
There appears to be no junior quiz from Aunty Beeb this week but anyone who’s a bit bored over Christmas might care to try some of these themed kids’ quizzes instead: https://www.bbc.co.uk/cbbc/curations/newsround-quizzes
(I’ve not tried any myself yet. If I did, I suspect that I might get some appallingly low scores!)
We do, however, have a Timed Teaser this week, where I could only score a lousy THREE out of ten. (It was one of those weeks where I actually knew several of the answers but still clicked incorrectly through trying to beat that ruddy fast-moving timer bar!)

Moving onto the big annual quiz, it comes (as usual) in four parts, with thirteen questions in each part . . .
July to September is here:

Yet again, I scored SEVEN out of thirteen. That’s probably not unusual though – people often say that I’m “quite big around the middle” ;-)
You can test out your (relatively) short-term memory here, with questions from October to December:

I finally moved off my regular score of seven, and in the right direction too, with NINE out of thirteen.
Tell us all your scores below and of course, HAVE A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS!
That timed quiz seems to have caught most people out this week, Mamya!
You obviously had other things than news stories to think about in the second quarter of the year but otherwise those look decent enough scores to me (probably because they're very similar to my own!).
5's a better score than many people (including me!) have managed on the time quiz this week, Ken ;-)
Your second half of the year scores are very impressive too!
The odds of managing to score zero in one of the quarterly quizzes using shear guesswork, Caran, are 1 in 195. So you've certainly managed to achieve something that's quite difficult to do this week!
;-)
At least you got gradually better. Let's hope that the improvement continues throughout the coming year ;-)
Thanx Chris. Hols wise. I've gone down with flu. So not much fun atm. Plus it's hasn't stopped raining since thursday.
The weather should improve on Monday.
Enough of me feeling sorry for myself.
Merry Xmas
