I am not a Man U fan but a football fan.
Though Man U won the league last year fairly easily I think everyone could see that the squad and team was not that good.
They were lucky with injuries (it is very rare for Van Persie to go a whole season without a major injury, he rarely had one while at Arsenal).
Also it has to be said that Fergie was the best at getting a top performance out of average players and teams.
It was also a year when the other teams around the top were not doing their best. Man C had a poor season, Chelsea had all sorts of manager/striker problems, Arsenal had just sold Van Persie and were no threat, and Liverpool were just getting their act together.
So it is probably true that if Fergie was still in charge THIS year, but had LAST years team, they would not win the league so easily now that all the other clubs have got their act together.
Having said that, the fact that Moyes had not won a SUNGLE CUP in 11 years at Everton should have sent alarm bells ringing. Particularly when you think Wigan and Swindon won the two cups last year, and Moyes could not manage it once at Everton.
Also the changeover at Man U was handled badly, with Fergie and David Gill both going at the same time.
Fergie did not want to buy any players in case Moyes did not want them, and with Gill going Moyes had little time to get his feet under the table before the season started.
He then panic bought Fellaini when most people felt he was not worth 27 million and may not even be good enough to be in the Man U midfield.
Moyes has had bad luck / problems with injuries (Van Persie and Rooney have been out a lot, Fellaini is out, Ferdinand and Vidic and Carrick have all missed games and so on.
Moyes also has the huge spectre of Fergie hanging over him, sitting in the dugout with the huge Alex Ferguson stand opposite him.
I gather Fergie suggested Moyes, but I feel they should have gone for a "bigger" name, who could have demanded new players and attracted big players (Moyes is not a big enough manager to attract the big names).
Someone like Mourinho wold have been a far better choice and was far more likely to attract big players and win the Premier league and Champions league.
Maybe his behaviour at Real Madrid, that time he crept up and twisted a persons ear during an argument, probably did not help his cause.
But there are plenty of other big name managers who would have loved the job and I cant see Moyes lasting the one season to be honest.
