A well known snooker player did not complete a 147 because the prize of 10,000 was not enough but a lot people live on a lot less a year .

He always says he likes to entertain the crowd, and the crowd loves a maximum, so I'm surprised he didn't complete it. However, perhaps the excitement had already been achieved and he was just making a point to the organisers of the tournament.

It's not like this money was "not won" - because it is rolled forwards it will be won one day, by him or someone else. He reckons whoever does win it deserves a bit more than £10K, which as his opinion is fair enough.
Not only that, but he took an easier shot on the final red in order to make his 146 clearance which puts him in line for a £2K highest break prize. Had he taken on the tougher shot he may not even have made the 146, let alone the 147.

No, woofgang. Anyone can spend their money on whatever they like, of course. I didn't read the actual newspaper report on the match.
Before reading ellipsis' post here I had assumed he'd deliberately missed the final black in order to make a point to the organisers of the tournament with regards to payment.
