Had my first bit of good fortune for a few weeks, yesterday, with 2 winners and a placed horse in a patent and e.w. treble. Just shy of £60 back for my £9 stake. Placed horse (Robeam) as beaten 16.5 lengths :-)

Royal Champion was though of as a Derby candidate as a 2yr old. Went a bit wrong when the hormones started surging ... it is not confined to male horses. Gelding seems to have sorted him out. There is a conclusion somewhere trying to get out. :))

Serious question: I tend to do single bets, wins, or each-way for bigger fields. I might have a double if I fancy two with short prices in small field races. I notice all sorts of dual-forecasts, tricasts, accas etc. Do they pay in the long run, or is it the prospect of a big payout?

Togo: a bit ahead on the day, which is all I ever aim for.

Big priced winners and placed horses done in doubles, trebles, or accas can pay big time for small stakes. I had about £280 back a few weeks ago for just such and today 30p E/W on my two winnrers has already guaranteed me £39.14. I now have an E/W double, an E/W Treble, and a place double, and a place 4 timer pending on the last runner of the 4.

I usually keep to large field handicaps, Drmorgans, and i rely on the stats to whittle the field down to a more manageable size. Of course, then i have to choose the correct horse from the list of those who've ticked most boxes and quite often i am in two minds about which one should carry my few bob. Choice made, i sometimes put them together in a rev f/c and i do have a modicum of success with them.
Bookies love people who do accas like me and Togo because the odds of us collecting are immense. However, every now and then...............
