Had no idea there was a women's world cup going on at the moment!
From a footballing point of view it is very amateurish. I watched a London Electricity Board side a few years ago play Charlton Ladies (who apparently were a decent side) and even though the LEB boys were not playing the way they would otherwise have played - no crunching tackles etc... - they absolutely hammered Charlton Ladies.
Frankly, it was embarrasing to watch.
So, good luck to them, I hope they do well and go on and win it - but is it worth watching?
There are lots of 'fit birds' playing.......and whilst I agree that if you are expecting a similar spectacle to watching a mens' game, i.e. play-acting, diving, broken bones and torn ligaments miraculously healing at the award of a free-kick, penalty or card, swearing, spitting and taunting of the opposition and their supporters......then, yes, you'll be disappointed.
I meant from a football point of view but now you mention it, are there any fit birds playing? From what I've seen of women's football and rugby in the past, they were a bit you know, not fit.
I enjoy watching a great many things, without preconceptions......
I don't expect the women to play football (or indeed other sports) like the men do, but don't find it to be any less gripping, entertaining or enthralling for all that.
That we are in the Quarter Finals of the World Cup in 'any' sport, surely, is something to be applauded?
Or are you merely sneerily dismissive just because they are women and you don't consider that women are good for much outside the home?
There are some fine-looking women playing in the tournament. But I think you'll find that your type of woman would have difficulty seeing the ball below her cosmetically enhanced chest and certainly wouldn't be able to kick it in her pencil-skirt and stiletos..... but the air in her cranium ought to help with the 'bounce' as she heads it....
I watched the last match and thoroughly enjoyed it plus two terrific goals any man would have been proud to have scored. Well done England now go and beat the frogs(or should that be frogesses?)
