he has done a great job - my only reservation is his faith in Owen Farrell and whether this is due to Andy Farrell being his sidekick.
Owen Farrell's constantly was kicking out of hand (people would argue for territory)instead of acting as a play maker and getting his very capable backs running - Manu on the charge is a fearsome sight , along with Chris Ashton they need good quick ball .
Farrell's young. A coach is entitled to take a punt, so to speak, on a promising kid. England have been improving every week, but they'll do better with a permanent appointment some time soon.
The big three SH teams and Fiji will be here in autumn - not sure if England are touring anywhere before that?
Most definitley coaches should take a punt with with promising youngsters and that's what the acadamies are doing really well in growing talent - but base it on talent and not who their dad is -
Watching the Under 20's the other week and a number ten with a great deal of promise at 19 is George Ford.He kicked well off the and out of hand but he also wasn't afraid to run the ball and get the backs moving with ball in hand
I appreciate we can all be guilty of having our favourites but the inclusion of Farrell smacks of nepotism
I think that Manu should somehow be penalised even now, well after the game has finished, about deliberately and blatantly going for the man with his shoulder. What thoughts about ball seemingly never going in straight in the scrum? Should that not be penalised like it used to be?
don't know what's happened to scrum put-ins, there hasn't been a straight one this century. But the scrums are a joke these days anyway, setting and resetting, contact too soon, refs not noticing collapses.
A quiet stiff warning Mr-H should suffice - "one more Macco and you are off the team"
As to the scrum - straight ball, cut the scrum to 6? - with the wfs touching the scrum with their hands or behind the scrum half? Easier to police and throws up some interesting plays.....
