I guessed that Sipo, but what if they were wearing it because the match was covered for TV, but in black and white?
Someone mentioned Swindon, they weren't even in the football league then!
And yes tony, I knew you were joking!
Doesn't have to be a League match though does it Chill, maybe a F A cup round.
Indeed! It is all very perplexing because as others have said, right kit, wrong badge.
The badge looks blue and white to me, definitely no red.
Or does anyone see the colours differently?
Looks like a Blue and White badge to me as well.
Question Author
I can disclose more information. It is indeed on the front of a Book Token which was presented as a "School Journey Prize" (whatever that is) by Lionel Primary School in 1970. The back of the Book Token states; "George Best & Emlyn Hughes (Manchester United v Liverpool)". It is certainly NOT Emlyn Hughes and this is the reason I have posed the question. Book Tokens Ltd. quickly discovered that they had made a mistake and withdrew and recalled all the offending stock from booksellers. This is the reason why the card is so scarce. I collect Book Tokens and I was the one in my wisdom (some would say otherwise no doubt!) who paid £26.00 for it. I have written to Liverpool Football Club and Manchester United F.C. and also the National Football museum without any joy and that is the reason I am now asking you good people at The Answer Bank. I have also asked around to her football sources and had a variety of suggestions, some serious and some frivolous. One of the most hopeful solutions was offered by a soccer fan in Manchester who thought it was a Yugoslavian (I don't know which of the break up countries he hails from but that doesn't really matter as it's certain he won't be still playing) player called Bosko Antic who played for F.K. Sarajevo against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Nov. 29th 1967 in the last 16 of the European Cup. Has anyone any confirmation of the photo matching the player in the photo? Confirmation of Bosko playing in the above match would not identify him: it would only confirm he was playing in that game.
I don't think it is a European match, that would've been a mod week night game, the photo looks like an afternoon match.
Antic was playing for FK Sarajevo in 1968.
Man Utd played FK Sarajevo twice in 1967 in the UEFA cup.

Wrong Man Utd kit craft, round neck collars!
Don't think it's that particular match though crafty, in Vimto's pic George Best has a short sleeved top on but in the YouTube clip he seems to be wearing a long sleeved top.
Is there any film of the away leg ?.
I'll have a look...............
Old Trafford 1968 going by the advertising hoardings which match the photo.

Again, round neck collars, long sleeves!
In that clip chrisgel Georges top doesn't match the one in the photo.
1st one, second row looks promising.
