Been watching the edited highlights of an evening.

One thing has struck me, although it might just be my hearing;

Where Joe Root was making various milestones, in his batting and later with the ball, I was sure I could hear booing from the audience - Did I mishear, or is there a reason he is being booed?

Presumably they are chanting Roo or Root or something like that
It sounded like that on the radio as well, at least to me anyway, but I think they were just shouting Root,root,root.

Ahh, that might well explain it... thanks, FF
It's the same sort of thing that happens at Bruce Springsteen gigs. The shouts of Bruuuuuuce all blend together into what sounds like a boo.

Impressive young cricketer by the way.
Same in golf for Luke Donald - lUUUUUUUke.
I was there :)

It's definitely "Roooooooot" - but it does confuse the uninitiated .... x
I know, I saw you gness!

@gness you were? Lucky you :)

Thanks for the confirmation that he was not being booed - I could not imagine why they would have been boing him ,but crying out his name makes a lot of sense...
