Now that he has won the Tour de France twice,does he deserve a Knighthood as well as Bradley Wiggins, who only won it once?

It's a team effort, apparently, as riders supporting the lead rider do their best to ensure good positions, protect the rider, act as pacemakers etc etc.

Froome's done some good work. I think Wiggo's knighthood was in part an honour for his being the first, as well as all the other achievements in his career eg in the velodrome.

Great effort by Chris Froome and the rest of Team Sky. As to awards-maybe Kenya and/or Monte Carlo will come up with something? He's hardly 'British' after all but then we do tend to adopt sporting heroes.

Was appalled watching the news last night, at the treatment he received by the French spectators, they even threw urine over him. When interviewed one of the French said 'we don't like the English'. How very sporting of them. Idiots.

They say you are never too old to learn, I am 78 and never knew Chris Froome was Born in Kenya,pays to check these things before posting,methinks. Would he still be eligible for a Knighthood despite being born in Kenya?

I believe his father is British-hence the adoption by the media etc- but he lives in Monte Carlo and was brought up in Kenya so a Knighthood seems rather hypocritical (if offered and accepted)

I think he obtained a British passport a couple of years ago.

To win the Tour de France is a magnificent effort (though I still don't understand why they organise pushibike races over the most unsuitable terrain).

But a knighthood - nah. He's doing something that he enjoys and for which (presumably) he is well paid but his efforts provide no great benefit to anybody.

Wiggins got his for a lot more than winning the tour, multiple gold medals at the olympics and world championships for a start.
