I heard this on the radio yesterday. What run-scoring record, set in the very first Test Match in history, still stands today?

If you're the type of person who wears an anorak, HS, you should also be the type of person who knows how to spell it ;-)

I'll let others ponder on it but, to push them towards the answer, I'll tell them that it refers to Charlie Bannerman.

However there's another record that still stands from that match as well, held by James Southerton. So what's that one then, Thesecondlaw?

;-)

Well, obviously, the oldest debutant. Thanks, Wikipedia. Good one, Chris.
first test centurion ( bit flukey) and highest number of runs as a proportion of sides' score

Correct humbersloop. The highest percentage (67.35% I believe) in an all-out innings. Well done.
irons anorack...
Until 1974 Bannerman also held the record for the highest score when retiring hurt in a Test match (165). Then Dennis Amiss retired on 178 while playing against Pakistan at the Oval. (He later returned and scored a further 5 runs before being caught).
