Well it seems like only yesterday that we were starting last years meeting. I have had a scan of the papers and web sites and have picked my horses for a little punt. The ones that I have marked * I will be putting in a Lucky 15 and I will do the first 6 choices in a Placepot and Jackpot tote bet. The pick in the last race is either a get out punt or an enhancement of the success already enjoyed(fat chance). Good luck all you racing lovers.( If you don't like the racing do feel free to start your own protest thread)

1.30 Crack Mome No6*
2.10 Altior No2
2.50 The Druids Nephew No11*
3.30 Moon Racer No6*
4.10 Limini No10
4.50 Beware The Bear No6*

5.30 Foxtail Hill No5

I went out for the afternoon for a spot of fishing, it was a glorious sunny day up here and just too good to miss. Just confirmed another dire set of selections but I will watch the replays anyway. I will again post the ones to avoid in the morning. Haha hope someone had a bit of luck. My turn tomorrow perhaps.
Everything that could go wrong, did go wrong in the early races and i had to wait for the last 2 before i saw any reward for my research. The e.w. on Nietzsche @ 22/1 (thought it was going to win for a few delirious seconds) and the win single on Fayonagh @ 10/1 (also had it in a Robin) meant that i kept my head above water - but only just! Some really good finishes today and i look forward to tomorrow's fare.

Well done Ken, keep those damned bookies on their toes.
Got a few quid back thanks to some e/w bets but still two days to go.

Thursday's bets...
1.30 Top Notch, Flying Angel e/w
2.10 Jury Duty, Electric Concorde e/w
2.50 Uxiandre
3.30 Cole Harden, Zarkander e/w
4.10 Henryville e/w, Thomas Crapper e/w
4.50 Dusky Legend e/w
5.30, Doctor Harper e/w, Pendra e/w

Good luck all
Question Author
Crickey Panky you were early....are you heading for the "gallops" for a spying session? Not much luck so far, so today must be the one. After a quiet hour perusing the rags I have chosen the nags.

1.30 Top Notch
2.10 For Good Measure
2.50 Sub Lieutenant
3.30 Cole Harden
4.10 Bouvreuil
4.50 La Bague Au Roi
5.30 Potter's Legend.
The last one is a bit of a conundrum for me. I have been following the selection and Potter's Cross all season( See Avatar) So I may end up having to do them both.
With you both in the first with Top Notch and have done a win single @ 7/2, as well as having it in a trixie with Empire Of Dirt 2.50 @ 11/4 and Unowhatimeanharry in the 3.30. Also done Uno to beat Ballyoptic in straight forecast.
Next four have all been backed as e.w. singles, but couldn't resist throwing them together for a 20p lucky 15 and 50p e.w. acca;

2.10; Ballymilan @ 25/1
4.10; Tango De Juilley @ 20/1
4.50; Verdana Blue @ 22/1
5.30; What's Happening @ 14/1

If those 4 get placed, i'll be transferring £630 to my bank. If they all win, i'm calling Securicor:-)

Best of luck, guys.
Oh yeah, thrown them all in a placepot, too, just in case Lady Luck is showering her blessings on me, today.

Lol Ken I have done For good Measure @9/1, Cole Harden@8/1, Bouvreuil@14/1, and Potters Legend@16/1 in my Lucky19 e/w acca. That would do me For about. £25k.
Question Author
Yep Placepot and Jackpot done here too on first 6.

Get my shopping done and look for a couple of trebles or doubles as well as it pans out. Good luck.
Who, I wonder, was the prune who put half a million on the 1-5 favourite in the Queen Mother I wonder. Presumably the sort of person who won't miss it ...
ichkeria; there's a saying in racing, 'If you've got the 5, you don't need the one'.
Quite a 'bad day at the office'!! :-(((
Question Author
Same here Ken. Sheesh I have never been so hopeless. Still tomorrow it may be payback time.
Managed to get out of trouble thanks to a few e/w shots in the last 3 races, final day of battle and my picks are..

1.30 Charli Parcs
2.10 Crievehill e/w, Moyaayed e/w
2.50 Wholestone, Baden
3.30 Native River, Champagne West e/w
4.10 Anseanachai Cliste e/w, Premier Portrait e/w
4.50 Castelo Sforza e/w, Rather Be e/w
5.30 Theinval e/w, Calipto e/w, Solar Impulse e/w

Will be doing singles and rfc's so fingers crossed for the last day and good luck all

Panky is up with the birds again. Last day, ahh well the racing has been superb if I haven't.
1.30 Master Blueyes*
2.10 Kapstadt*
2.50 Wholestone*
3,30 Native River* (& bit of e/w on Smad Place)
4.10 Paint The Clouds
4.50 Taglietelle
5.30 Dodging Bullets

*Lucky 15. Placepot & Jackpot first 6. See how it pans out with cover bets as the races are run.
I'll do a placepot today, not seen the horses and runners yet, waiting on my paper, I'll back an Irish horse in the feature race, maybe one from trainer Mullins, his stables are only down the road from me, Ruby came in well for him yesterday, I got a nice return on that ;)
From January 1st onward, i save 5% of any winnings to go to my 'Festival Fund'. I then decide if any of my selections could be considered 'bankers' and bet on them accordingly. The rest of the fund is shared equally on the 4 days of Cheltenham. I didn't feel strongly enough about any this year to consider them banker material and, as a result, i do have a bit more than is usual to play with each day. So, up on day 1, level on day 2 and a complete washout yesterday still leaves me slightly up on the whole. Throwing the lot on today and even if i draw another blank, i will only have lost what i decided i could afford to lose at the start of the festival. Just finalising today's 'hopefuls' and i see one or two of my choices are mirrored by both panky (with 3) and Togo (with 2). Wonder if that's a good omen? :-)
Question Author
Haha Ken, I suppose based on the law of averages I must have something in today plus one of my brothers has just txted. He is on his way back after 2 days at the meeting and conforms that he is doing the same as me in the 1.30 & 3.30 but has not yet chosen his others yet. He is pretty good by the way.
Have been quite ruthless with stats today - 2 strikes and you're out! Obviously there are a few in each race which tick many boxes and i hope i've chosen the correct ones.

1.30; Charli Parcs @ 4/1 (Win single & Rev f/c with fav)
3.30; Native River @ 5/1 (Win single & Rev f/c with Outlander)
4.10; Wonderful Charm @ 5/1 (Win single & Rev f/c with Paint The Clouds)

Those 3 in a patent and e.w. treble.

2.10; Air Horse One @ 11/1 (E.W. single)
2.50; Wholestone @ 15/2 (Win single)
4.50; Coo Star Sivola @ 11/1 (E.W. single & Rev f/c with Rather Be)
5.30; Pairofbrowneyes @ 33/1 (E.W. single)

Those 4 in a lucky 15 and e.w. acca - Securicor on red alert:-)

Also have a sneaky feeling that Brian Hughes, who is having his best season, might just be able to coax Dominada into a place in the 2.10 @ 33/1.

I wish you all the worst day in bookmaking history:-)
