Having announced his retirement, he shouldn't still be entering the Australian Open. Why would he want to be beaten ( as is quite likely) in the first round, ?? It must be difficult for his opponent too, as the crowd will obviously be vociferously sympathetic !!!!

Is Murray not one of those players who has voiced his disquiet about players entering prestige tournaments when not fully fit? If a player - no matter who he/she is or what status he/she holds - isn't somewhere near peak physical fitness, they should not even consider playing. I'm sure i'm not on my own in saying i would rather he retired now than get trounced in the first set against some unknown, then retire injured just for a final pay packet.
