//It is a shame that Football has come to this...//
But it hasn't only just come to this. It's been like it for donkeys' years. I gave up watching football when the repeated sight of players falling over, rolling across the pitch about six times and writhing in agony, clutching an imagined serious injury, having been blown over by the draught from an opponent passing six feet away all got a bit boring. This was compounded when the said victim would look up and wink at anybody who was watching, having ensured he'd secured a penalty, then jump up to his feet, dust himself off whilst being congratulated by his teammates. The beautiful game? Nah.
As you say, a great shame with the passing of Martin Peters just announced. I saw Peters play many times, mainly at White Hart Lane, and, if measured by conduct, many of today's players are not fit to clean his boots.
