This must be one of England’s most humiliating performances in Test history.Agreed the bowling was of a pretty high standard but the technique of our batsmen,honed as it is for white ball cricket,was found severely wanting.The ECB needs to go back to the drawing board and put the County Championship at the top of there list of competitions.A limited overs competition is obviously necessary to generate income for the counties but we now have too many.Let’s press the re-set button and perhaps the next time we go “down under” we have the players who can at least make a fight of it.

There’s a lot less one-day cricket in Australia. In England they’ve completely marginalised - literally - the four day game to make way for one day stuff.
