And with one game to go Shakhtar Donetsk have already claimed the title. Meanwhile Zorya Luhansk may well join them in next season’s Champions League, which would leave Ukraine’s representatives in the competition teams from cities Russia claimed were independent then annexed.
While Russian teams of course are banned.

The Syrian football league was still operational while cities and towns were being bombed, too, Ich. A little bit of normality amid the everyday chaos of war.

I'm convinced they were determined to keep the league going in order to have Ukrainian teams qualifying for Europre, thereby further rubbing Russian noses in it :-)
