What is this strange obsession with wanting to watch football on the telly in a pub? Surely it's more comfortable at home (with the added advantage that you don't annoy anybody else).

//As others have said, it's all about 'shared experience'. That's why people buy tickets for concerts when they can't even see the performers://

Indeed, Chris. But concert halls are designed for concerts and all those attending go for just one purpose. Pubs are not designed for mass entertainment and there are lots of people in them who go there for other purposes to which the premises are more suited.
strange choice of BA! just saying!
I think you 'enjoy' all these minor irritations, Judge. It's who you are. ;)

I admire anybody who takes positive (legal) action to avoid paying the TV Tax.

It's being miserable that keeps me happy! :-)
You need to get out more NJ. Find a new local. Before I answered this Q I did a quick mental survey of the pubs I frequent.

There are five. Only one has a TV, and it's easily escapable by moving to a different room.

If there's nowhere like that where you live, think about moving house.
