Has anybody noticed whenever man utd gloryhunters write to the media, IE Skytext / Newspapers etc, They always begin with...."As a man utd fan" blah, blah, blah, As if it gives them some credence to let everybody know they "support" them, Every genuine footy fan knows that they are the most despised "fans" in football

Are they the most despised fans? You have evidence to support this? The last time I looked, they were the most supported team in the world. I believe you falling foul of an urban myth, a bit like the one that says most Man utd fans come from way outside manchester, which is simply not true.

A Hayes & Yeading fan (Blue square Premier) and yes, I was born and raised in Hayes.

I was born and raised in Manchester near Maine road and most of the people supported United.The Manchester City social club was full of reds during the week.The only time they had more blues in was on match day or a Mcfcsc club meeting.

Why should United fans come from Manchester anyhow? Many would argue that Old Trafford is in Salford... Not Manchester hehe!! It's like saying your a Liverpool fan living on the Wirral!!

(Sorry... my boyfriend is a United fan and he is from the Wirral, so it's was a comment that always winds him up... I couldn't resist :) )

sorry also am a bury fan / utd fan but what bobby said about more city fans in manchester is true most utd fans are from china go look outside the ground on match day ive been to old t twice in last 5 years because of this its lost alot over the years.

I lived and went to school near Maine Road, and must admit, I never noticed any Man U Fans around. Admittedly it was a very long time ago! My first pair of footie boots were fitted by the Man C winger who had a sports shop in Rusholme!

In my opinion the most despised club are Leeds because of the Revie era. I would say that most fans are envious of such a run of success.

Most fans "despise" thier locl rivals so given that Man U are possibly the best supported club in the world that would be Liverpool or maybe not.

I would have to say that im from the South and Man U are certainly despised down here to my knowledge far more than any other team ? We also do have a lot of Glory hunters that have no ties to them or have ever been to see them play which gets my back up.

even at the top of kippax street there was always a big queue
