every time i watch a tennis match, especially wimbledon, i always reallly really want to become a tennis player! don't know why but just something about it makes me feel like i could do so well in tennis and you know that feeling when you could just run for ages.. i feel like that haha so something's telling me i should start! my dad reckons i would be quite good at it and i did it in p.e and loved it! i may not be great but i think with time it could become a good sport of mine. there is a local club down the road from me but i know really young kids are amazing there and i'd feel so stupid getting a lesson! should i practice with a friend first and get used to it again or just go for a lesson? i'm just a bit shying away from actually getting started!

Don't feel stupid having lessons, _sophie_.

Even Roger Federer still has lessons. All top players have a coach.

As you get better, a tennis coach will just teach you even more skills.
There are many excellent courses you can go on, to learn tennis from the basics. Google the likes of Nick Ring Leisure, Jonathan Markson, Tuscan Tennis Holidays, Val Do Lobo (which is in The Algarve), and La Manga (which is in Spain and the best course of all).
