Not sure about the Trenitalia pass being available to travel into Monaco, sounds possible. But the thing is you mustn't pass up the opportunity to go visit Monaco.

Have lunch or coffee at the Cafe de Paris opposite the Casino and people watch. Walk round the Grand Prix circuit, relax in the Japanese Garden, if your into boats then you can't miss a walk round the marina, and finally Prince Rainiers' Palace and while you are at the top a visit to the Monte Carlo chocolatier.
