Why is my PC fan running all the time ? It always seems that the main drive is writing as well. I have a reasonably fast PC, running VISTA. I don't have much space on my hard disc though...could that be the problem ?

Fan, probably heatsink clogged up with fluff and dust.

Hard drive accessing all the time, either too much crap running, or not enough RAM, both can cause constant swapping to the hard drive.

Thanks ! I will give the heatsink a clean ASAP.

But how do I deal with too many things running.....PC's seem to perform tasks all by themselves these days. Is there a good free drive cleaner that you can recommend ?
Isn't the fan supposed to run al the time to keep things cool(er) ? My PC has run its fans continuously since build.
yeh my cpu fan runs continuously, never seen a comp that they don't
ive got a free prog called "speedfan" on mine which cuts it down when the cpu is not working hard,as chuck says it might need cleaning it out. buy a can of "air duster" (maplins) give it all a good blast out
Many motherboards have a BIOS setting to allow the fan to run constantly at full speed or in response to processor heatsink temperature.
