product key for office 2007
I have Office 2007installed on my laptop and desktop pc's. They are two different products with their own product key and therefore legal. I will shortly be upgrading my laptop from XP to 7 and if i understand correctly will have to reinstall all programmes. My problem is I dont know which product key I used for each of my computers. Will I have a problem if i use the "wrong" discs when reinstalling after the upgrade. Or is there someway my laptop will tell me what product key I used. I havent mixed up the discs so I know which product key goes with which discs. hope this makes sense and that someone can help.

As I see it I have a 50% chance of ending up with two computers with the same product key, which Microsoft wont allow, otherwise I would have purchased one copy and installed it on laptop and desktop. Thinking about it what if I uninstall from both machines and reinstall. Any problem there when it comes to activation?

Chris,
Not sure how you think you have a 50/50 chance of ending up using the same key! you have to type the key in so it's pretty obvious if you type the same one in twice!
All I said is the CDs are generic, they are not linked to a key at all, apart from for the version of office (so any office 2007 home and business key will activate any office 2007 home and business CD)
Not sure why galeck is going on about Belarc Advisor either, seeing as you already have the keys... just install office and type one key in on one machine and the other key on the second machine, and it will activate over the internet, no need to call microsoft.

Make sure your laptop is capable of running W7 (run the W7 upgrade advisor).
Also make sure there are W7 drivers for your laptop or some of the hardware components wont work.
I think you are better putting the money you pay for W7 towards a new laptop rather than upgradng an old laptop to W7, but it is up to you.

Use a key finder utility:

Thanks for all the answers people. I have now run magical jellybean on my destop pc and now know the product key for that. By a process of elimination I now know the other key is for my laptop. I will take VHG's advice and run the upgrade advisor before I start. I have already purchased the upgrade otherwise i may have considered a new laptop.
Thanks again
