WAS "Soltek AGP4X Motherboard - Searching For Drivers."
Greetings each.
I thought all my problems with this heap of junk were solved, after Chuck pointed me in the right direction.
Everything in the proverbial garden is working brilliantly EXCEPT:
I cannot get IDE Secondary to recognise any devices whatsoever. :-(
Auto Detect is enabled in BIOS, but the poxy thing doesn't. I have tried various other IDE ribbon cables to no effect.
Any ideas please Mr F, or anyone else?
Stay good!
Cheers.

I've never seen a motherboard that requires separate drivers for the primary and the secondary IDE channel, So my first thoughts are there is another setting in the BIOS somewhere that is disabling the secondary channel totally, or, you've got the master/slave settings on the devices themselves wrong (don't bother using the cable select setting).
p.s.

You'll be able to see if the secondary channel is disabled totally because only one IDE channel will show in device manager under IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers.

Primary Master/Slave are fine, displaying ExcelStore HDD and DVD-R/W. These both work well together.
Secondary Master/Slave both display [None]
I have tried connecting HDD to Secondary channel and it still isn't recognised, with "Disk Boot Failure" being displayed.
The thing works OK apart from that, although I would like to be able to install another HDD as Slave if required at any stage.
Did you check in the BIOS (probably under something like integrated peripherals) to see if the secondary channel is disabled?

If there is either no such settings, or it's enabled then I'd have to take a guess on a faulty channel.

Hey Chuck:
You are indeed a *****STAR***** !!!
I had a poke around in Integrated Peripherals and found Channel 10 [Enabled] and Channel 11 [Disabled]. I changed the setting on that one and all is now hunky-dory. :-)
You have galloped to my rescue once again.
Many thanks.
Stay good!
Cheers.
