VIRUS REMOVAL

MY Friend has a problem.She must have clicked on a virus alert and now the computer wont start up correctly.It says you need Kaspersky antivirus to clean up.Is this a rouge programme just to make you buy an anti virus prog and how do we get the computer back on track.Thanks

Once when that happened to me years ago I managed to get onto my search bar in the windows start menu and key in todays date (day that the computer messed up) and any new files that had that date as the date they was first made I deleted them. That got rid of the problem. It may not be the same in your case but it worked for me on windows xp years ago.

start up in safe mode go to restore and click on that was before the virus alert and dont click on any more alerts

Thanks for answers,my friend lives in Germany so I will phone her and talk her through it.She is new to computers and I had warned her about rouge messages.
