having trouble re-loading this scanner ive had for years .never been a problem before, i'm on xp pro and comp is more than adequate, ive tried it with firewall off and avg temp off and in safe mode, ive unloaded and reloaded over and over again and i used the disk it came with
all goes well, says your astra slim se is ready for use, i look in the scanners on the control panel test it.it passes test run ok
. now when i click on the astra slim on my progs instead of the scan panel popping up all i get over and over again is a panel saying ausba4
"device too much - please un-plug your device" when i click that to exit it then pops up "cannot communicate with scanner make sure its plugged in" and all that ........... i consider myself computer literate but this has got me beat

I note that your post refers to 'ausba4', whereas this page states that the driver file package includes both Ausba4.dll and Ausba4XP.dll:

I'm wondering whether (for some unexplained reason) your computer is trying to use a non-XP dll file instead of the one designed for XP.
Run a search for *.dll to find a full list of all dll files on your computer. Check that both of the files have been installed. Then delete ausb4.dll and see what happens. (Alternatively just rename the file. You can then change the name back again if you want to).

i'll persevere, but cant see what's wrong ive done this dozens of times over the years using the original cd and never had a problem
