how do i back up my portable hard drive

i have a portable hard drive and need step by step instructions how to back it up pls, many thanks

Back it up to what?

Your best bet of how to do it depends on how much stuff you have on the drive to back up, if it's not too much simply write the contents onto a DVD (or a couple of DVDs), If it's a lot of information then get another drive and copy evverything from one drive onto the new one so you've got two copies and then keep the new drive in a safe location.
