I need to renew my subscription tomorrow for Norton Internet Security.
2 Questions -first -is there any cheaper way of doing it than online at around 48 quid?
second -if I renew online how do I renew onto my two laptops? -do they send you a new subscription code through email? -thanks!
You use the same one for your three computers (or we do) - I'm not aware of how to get it cheaper, other than Tesco are currently giving a voucher at the tills for money off a new Norton purchase.
Don't bother to renew Norton just uninstall it and put on MSE Security Essentials MSE is free and does as good a job as Norton. That is what I did 2 years ago and I have never had a hint of a problem. Just be certain you have fully removed Norton before you put MSE on. Why pay for something you can get free.?
If you use Yahoo webmail it's protected by Norton and wont cost a penny. For the rest of your browsing, there are good free Antivirus programmes. Unless you sail in dangerous waters there really is no need to pay and it is easy to install Microsoft Essentials which will protect you. Avira, AVG, Avast will all do the job.
thanks eddie - I'm, a bit strapped for cash so if i can get anything free thats a bonus - I'm not into gaming on line or 'dodgy' sites but last year I let the subscription slip and got a nasty virus - got rid of it easy enough and for free but don't want to go 'without protection' . Cheers for the link x
I renewed Norton Internet Security in December. I bought a 3-PC disc from PC World for £27. I think that was a special offer - no idea if it is still that price.
I have been using Norton for years and have never renewed on-line as I have always found cheaper discs locally.
All that said there are many free packages available as above posters have indicated.
The price depends on what type of Norton Security you want.
They tend to send you a licence number.
You could phone Norton Support on 08003316014 if you have problems installing it.
pretty please eddie -talkthrough on removal?? Have windows vista -do I just go into control panel - uninstall a programme and choose all the norton things i can see ( pardon my techie talk lol!) ?
My brothers IT Dept reccomended Avira its free just download it .I did and I think its brilliant !When I had Nortons on my PC it took forever to fire up and log in.
update - I removed norton using norton removal tool (thanks eddie) and installed MSE security (thanks again eddie) - dead easy saved me 50 squid - i owe you a drink Eddie thanks so much xx
I live very close to two micro breweries and the black sheep brewery - lol! none of your pissey foriegn stuff round our way ;-) The MSE is working very quietly in the background and I've noticed a significant speeding up of browsing times so all good;-)
I always found Norton slowed my PC down a lot so got rid of it years ago and used the free ones ever since. To be honest AVG works better than Norton ever did and there are a few other ones like the Microsoft ones that seem to work well too.
