My PC has been playing up for the past couple of months now and its driving me mad. I open up IE and use the tabs to browse website as normal, however my screen freezes and I can't click on anything. Then I get a message in the top bar saying "(not responding)" so I close down IE and open again using the restore last session when prompted. This is happening more and more now and its really p!ssing me off.

Can anyone help me with this?

I would suggest clearing your history and cookies and then try again. I may be barking up the wrong tree and im sure you will get more advice soon.

I've been clearing up my browsing history and cookies more often recently Ratter. Still keeps happening though. One thing I have noticed is that I'm getting ads now whereas I wasn't getting them a few months ago. Don't know how to put the ad blocker on. My brother did it last time.
Download "Firefox" from http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/fx/
It's much more stable than Internet Exploder.

I've got Firefox but just don't use it. I've got all my favourites visible on IE which I don't think you can have on Firefox. I don't know why but I just can't get used to FF.
Bit more detail on your pc would be nice.
What O/S?
Size of installed memory?
HDD not becoming full?
Not too many processes running in the background?
You can import your favourites to Firefox or Chrome; they go into a folder called Bookmarks visible on the tool bar. I use Chrome as the speed is far superior.
Question Author
Microsoft windows.
32bit
3070 mb

Not sure if the above is what you are asking about and not sure what HDD is.
O/S = XP, Vista, W7
HDD = Hard drive/Local Disc C size
IE8 has been playing up on XP for a while. I've given it up despite preferring the way it handles the visited sites etc. It locked up and lost what I was working on once too often.

Forget Firefox. Chrome is where things are going.
I recommend re-installing the Operating System & Installing Kaspersky Internet Security.. You might have a Malware issue .... Also, Check out pctools.com for Software to clean out your Browsers....

I use vista Alice. Don't know about the hard drive.

I did have a malware issue a few nights ago when I had this torjan horse security shield thing poping up asking me for money but my brother got rid of it with Microsoft security essential. He has also uninstalled Virgin security which ii next to useless.

I've got both Chrome and Firefox so maybe its time for a change.....
The only problem we're having with IE9 is with Answerbank, I'm still constantly getting the message that AB is not responding, please reload page.
Question Author
Thats exactly what I keep getting at the top of te screen in brackets Box. Don't know whether its to do with using AB though. I'll have to shut AB down for a bit and see if it still does it.
It's only AB we get it on - all our other pages are fine.
Same here just on Answerbank (not responding)Sometimes I have to start over again some times I just press Answerbank in my favourites and it comes back.
what's your IE version?
Maybe you can just update to IE 9.
How do you think?
