Can anyone tell me in easy steps how to download my photos and documents onto discs, so that I can leave my desk top with a technician without fear of loosing anything. My computer is so slow but I think it will manage to download eventually. Thanks in advance.

I am the thickest of the thick but I done it . Just load the blank dvd then it will prompt you on screen what to do.
Depends on what operating system you are using eg: win 7 just select the files you want to burn then just below the menu bar it says burn.

theres plenty of software that you can get but Win 7 has it built in if you just want quick and simple

It would be a heck of a lot quicker and easier to copy them to a USB memory stick
To tell you in easy steps you need to state your operating system, your PC's drives available, memory size, disc size, file sizes, and so it goes on.
If your PC is so slow it is unlikely you have a lot going for you by way of latest features to help. If you have UBS available then a Flash memory stick is a lot better (reliable) and speedier than disk, but costs more size for size.
But surely, if you trust your PC with your techys, then you can ask them to back up your files for you.
It may be slow because its old with a low spec or maybe just "gummed" up with all sorts of problems like adware, malware or loads of programs trying to update in the background etc etc etc

At very first, if you have to store photos onto Disc, then in your PC there is a requirement of CD writer.
After that you have to just put blank CD in the CD player of the CPU and just select the file or folders which you want to store on the disc.
Select option send to with the help of right click.
After that, select " Burn files to data disc" option from the left hand menu of the window.

Thank you for all your help, it sounds quite straight forward, will let you know how I get on,
and in future, always backup your prized stuff anyway.
