Can anyone please advise how to do this free please? I have taken a lovely Winter landscape photo which I want to use for a personal Christmas card and just need to superimpose the words "Happy Christmas" along the bottom. I'm not that computer savvy so any easily understandable replies would be really appreciated please! Thanks in advance :)

Right click on the photo and open in Paint.Click on the capital A on the left hand tool section. This will bring up 2 selections underneath, choose the bottom one which puts a text box on you photo.Hope this helps.
I like to do this every now and again, Ann86; however, I always forget how to do it, so I bookmarked this site. It might help you.

It's an expansion on what Polly1958 already posted.
I do mine using picasa 3. It really is simple. A free quick download. It also finds photoes that you had forgotten about when you run it.
I just realized that that site isn't working.. This one is similar: scroll down to "add text".
