Reinstall Windows 7
I have severel corupted registry files. None of the usual solutions so I tried to reinstall Windows 7 without success. I cannot access regedit and system restore doesn't work. Trying to use Norton won't work as it is switched off although works on my wifes computer and also on my laptop.
I can not find any reason for the corrupt files as they were they on swich on this morning without any obvious reason but me internet coccrection workd as does my email so I,m sending this on my laptop. Using the official Windows 7 disc to reinstall only goes so fartand then notifies corrupt files the maion one being Solution Menu EX whatever that is. This problem does not apprear to have been caused by email message os a webtie I have visited. M

1. I do have an uncorrupted Windows 7 disc which will start to ihstall and stop after a partly complete installation.
2. No. I am not trying to boot with the disc in the drive.
3. Yes I have tried to run restore from safe mode
without success.
4. Some further information may help. I can get online but my Norton anti- virus software is switced off and I have never had any problems with it. I have tried to reinstall it with out success.. I have also tried to install Kaspersky Internet Securiy which will not install as other systems are there and will not uninstall so Kapersky will not install. I have also tried to use AVG which I have in a a back stop and this also prevents Kapersky and will not uninstall.
5. I have also tried to access regedit without success and followed the Windows rescue procedure. I also am informed that I have corrupted files and need to use the check disk procedure which I do without success. I wish I could find an obvious reason for this but at the moment I can't so I am in a quandary.
6 My hard drive seems fine. Thank you so far and sorry about my typos

Leaving aside the re-install for the moment.
Do you have a Canon printer? As The Builder suggests that might be the problem.
Try re-installing the printer drivers first and see what happens.

Why don't you repair your Windows using your install disc. If you have a legal copy of Windows 7 the version on your computer you can use that or if you don't try to borrow one. The copy should have SP1 included on the disc otherwise you will have to uninstall it first before doing your repair. All you have to do then is place the disc in the dvd drive with Windows running and follow the prompts but when it comes to the install bit choose UPGRADE and then let Windows do your repair, you will have to choose your language and keyboard. When it asks for your ID key insert the one from your computer. Let Windows install updates as usual.
