Avast Blocking My External Hard Drive
My Avast demanded to be updated yesterday, so I did. Now when I plug my external hard drive in (a little Maxell portable) nothing comes up and I can't back things up. I assume these two events are connected as there was no trouble till today.
Is there any way to tell Avast to permit it? Or of restoring the earlier Avast? (Though I assume the latter would be risky.)
(Please don't advise installing MSE instead as I had the same trouble with it in the past; that's why I installed Avast in the first place.)

I use up-to-date Avast on W8.1 and don't have this problem. If you right-click the Avast icon in the task tray you'll find the 'Avast Shield Controls' where you can disable it for a period - see if the drive is recognised when Avast is disabled. I suspect it won't make a difference.

Damn and blast, I look forward to Casualty and Holby, why can't they put it on BBC 2, am really annoyed now.
I actually went out in a pretty summer dress and summer wedge shoes, felt nice, but not sure if I looked like my mother or not! If so then won't wear that again.
This Americans is going on and on Shaney, up to episode 12 and still not finished. May finish next week. It's good. Have you seen Feud yet?
I am catching up, on Wentworth prison, it's an Ozzy thing and I think it's being shown on 5* but I can't wait!
My husband and I went out for drinkies poos and tapas at lunch time, very ice it was, and he brought home a curry last night so will finish that off tonight.
He also bought the cat a new poo box, it's actually a storage box but has high sides and bigger floor space so hopefully it will contain all that is necessary!

Good Sunday morning to you all.
I wish Southampton would collect my cat's bin, in fact the new worked very well. We almost bought one of those storage boxes with wheels but I could imagine poor old Mousey doing her business and rolling along the floor.
Mr N is painting the pool in readiness for me to dip in a toe. It's really warm now and I can't be outside without having a pool to leap in, did I say leap, I lie, I go down the steps very gingerly .

Morning all
Nice one so far although the forecast is for isolated thunderstorms .I hope we're isolated enough not to get them .
I haven't watched Feud yet Neti but it's loaded onto the DVD player and I'm saving it for a rainy day.I'm immersed in the Murdoch Mysteries atm.
Very good too.Set in Toronto in the late victorian early edwardian days. He's a detective but also an amateur inventor and they weave famous people and happenings of the those times into the stories. It's quirky and interesting with a back story and I'm slightly in love with Constable Crabtree :)
Am so looking forward to the Americans .
One man came to mow and strim yesterday so the garden looks tidier and it was worth sweating over a roast dinner in return for the heavy work as we can't do it now and the other gardeners seem to have either disappeared or don't turn up.
Hope you're all ok.

hello all....been a bad weather panicky dog day here and more to come tonight and tomorrow...can we just STOP this nonsense now please. Unblocked toilet seems to be blocking up again so man coming back after the bank hol.
Jno that's not us, its the City of Southampton which is a Unitary Authority. I hope the New Forest Council don’t get any similar silly ideas

New Forest Council have to be really careful about refuse issues as its so easy to fly tip here....it happens anyway to some extent and I could see it getting very much worse if they put too much pressure on households. I am not complacent and am sure they’d love to do it but so far they have been sensible.
tomorrow is my annual day watching cricket. Looks like rain. Hopefully my seat is under cover and I'll take enough layers so I don't freeze when the north wind blows, as I did a couple of years ago. I still have a very mucusy cough so I'm sleeping nights in my nice leather armchair at the moment. No good going to bed, as soon as I lie flat my throat fills up :-(
Good evening....more Nonday than Monday, rain all day and has felt autumnal to me. We were threatened with yellow rain all weekend but apart from a brief shower it never happened.
I've felt as grim as the weather today, spent most of the afternoon dozing. Hope you all feel livelier than I do.
The image of Mousey rolling round on a litter tray made me laugh neti. My bath drain is is running slow and my garden tap is crackered if you're free for a spot of plumbing.

Good morning. I needed a plumber yesterday as bathroom basin was draining slowly, but one never knows if cesspit is full or its blocked, anyway luckily I live with a plumber man who plunged it and it is fine, otherwise I would have had to do it with dangerous chemicals! My garden tap needs replacing but no such luck with that one and I don't know how to change tapes, I might have to Google it.
Got up early and opened back door and a cockroach had obviously been queuing up waiting patiently cos it came hurtling in and went under the shelving unit. I eeeked loudly and Mr N came and sprayed and then it climbed into Mousey's water bowl and Mr N got rid of it, what a wake up call!, hate them.
Looks a tad overcast at the moment but it'll brighten up,as am washing the spare bed.
Hope you all have a good day.
