Could someone please help. I have a very old laptop that runs on Windows Xp. Every time I log onto the internet the address bar displays Mystart.incredibar.com and every time I need to open another web page it comes up again.
I have not used this machine regularly for a couple of years and only need it for HMRC basic Tools RTI. Done that OK this morning now trying to use internet just to see if it can still manage it.

I can't remember how to adjust it and I have no idea which version of explorer is being used unless someone can tell me where to look for that.

TIA

I don't think this one is as sinister as you might think, Sycamore.

Have a read here...............

I guess it started off as another piece of marketing etc, but developed into a damned nuisance.

Thank you very much for that I will hopefully have some luck sorting it. When I re read my question I thought how stupid she can't do that. But going backwards is not always good or easy. I could not remember as I have been using my ipad2 for so long now.
Now doubt my laptop will live for another few months.
Thanks again.
Go to Menu bar ( at top of screen), click on HELP and then about Internet Explorer. That will tell you what version you have.
If you put Mystart.incredibar, com in GOOGLE, it comes up as a virus.
Install and run either Malwarebytes or Superantispyware, they are both FREE if you google for them.
Hope this helps.
Go to the top, click TOOLS..OPTIONS Then check your address on HOME PAGE..Delete Mystart.incredibar.com and type in Google.com. Come out of your home internet page and then click back on it and it will give you the Google home page. You can type in any other home page if you want..Good luck...bestdriver
Well, you basically need to reset your web browser. See this:

Also, I think you should scan your computer with Malwarebytes.

Thanks for all your answers. I have worked through them all and my laptop is now running a little bit quicker (more of a strolling pace though). And those annoying pop up things have also stopped. It has only taken me all day. I am going out now so time to defrag.
Thanks once again
