Unwanted Programme

I played a friend's cd on my computer and now I appear to have Tesco Picture Suite permanently downloaded.

I've tried everything to remove this without success and I'm getting “COULD NOT OPEN INSTALL.LOG FILE”. Please how can I get rid of this? Thnx

Start...Control Panel ..... Program and Features?

If no luck, then the simplest way is to "System Restore" your machine to the day before you played the CD.

The trouble is Mr Builder that it must be quite a few weeks back now that I played the cd and how can I be sure that this programme will be deleted?

I think the answer will probably be getting into the log file (would it be there anyhow?) but I'm loathe to do that as I'm not too confident about my computer abilty! However, I am open to your suggestion. Yes, I am on windows 7. Lots of thanks for your help.

Hi OG - haven't tried your link yet, but I have deduced that the Tesco Picture Suite is an old programme (not suitable for windows 7) and one that uses the old Twain; believe it or not, because of Twain, it has now intereferred with my printer and although that is printing ok, I find I cannot now scan.

I have managed to get rid of the Tesco prog but I am left with my printer not scanning, so ............... good and bad news (something else to work on)!

The moral of my story is that although I am aware of old programmes not working for windows 7 & 8, I'll shall beware in future of playing someone else's cd's.

Ah... Twain ...... that'll mess up your scanning for sure. When you've finally removed this thing, you may have to uninstall your printer/scanner software and re-install.

I must say that, whenever I get something like this, I use the free version of Ccleaner. It's uninstall process is very good.

Also ... I wouldn't even bother trying to find the log file that it mentions. If the software is incompatible, then it's more trouble than it's worth anyway.

Re System Restore. You can look at the "restore points" to see exactly what was downloaded... and when.

Right Mr B - you're thinking along the same lines as me regarding Twain.
All printers (and I've had many) seems to use Twain and I will most probably have to re-install my printer.

Good idea, however, re your advice to use C.Cleaner, I will do that. Thnx.
