Devices by other manufacturers such as Samsung, Microsoft, Amazon, come with a variety of names, not iPad.
iPads are expensive but very well built. They use software from Apple. They have a very lot of apps, which have to be vetted by Apple. Software on tablets other than Apple are not vetted which is why 97% of malware is spread via the Android software on Samsung devices etc.
The operating systems on tablets is different from a desktop computer, so whatever you buy, you may be on a bit of a learning curve.
If you are on a tight budget, then a Android tablet will do.

I don't think this has been mentioned, but the major difference between an iPad and a normal Tablet is the Tablet has an expandable memory, due to a micro SD card slot. I've got the xperia Z1 tablet, and it's waterproof to 1.5 metres, for up to 30 minutes. Bought it from QVC.
They've got the Z3 Compact for £329.00 and you can pay in installments - I'll say this in capitals (Although I shouldn't)... YOU CAN GET IT HOME AND PLAY WITH IT UNTIL THE 25TH JANUARY 2015. Don't like it, ring QVC and they'll collect it AND give you a refund minus the p & p, BUT, you'll only pay the first installment price. Take a look

The Apple iPad Air 2 64Gb is the latest, best iPad from Apple.
The wi-fi only is £475. It is the model I have and I am very pleased with it.

I Do Not have any wish to have a Tablet /iPad which in my opinion does Not better a Laptop. Personally, I think that Tablets are pure playthings which are full of problems. However, I am somewhat biassed and would suggest you think carefully before buying what might prove to be an expensive toy.

A few years ago Apples iPad was considered ho set the benchmark... do a little research and you will find that Apple are giving them away all time low prices due to the Android devices dancing rings around them on both price, performance and options. Whatever you do don't be fooled into the Apple quality supremacy theory.
Having bought an new I pad a few months ago, I was never so pleased to see a tech device go when I sold it a few weeks later.
You will be more than pleased if you do go to JL and have a play around with them and ask a few questions.
Don't visit the Apple store ... they will be biased.
