I'm hoping some kind soul can sort this for me please.
Today I sent an email to someone I hadn't emailed for ages - I am pretty confident I sent it to the correct address and it hasn't been returned. When I was typing it an Avast pop on informed me 'threat detected' so I immediately ran a full scan -result was two virus detected - ran another scan and the results showed all was well. Have been back into my email just now and my sent items folder is highlighted and each time I click on it takes me to my in box.
Bt email - firefox-HP computer.
Thank you

(I'm assuming that you're accessing your BT email account via their website, rather than via a dedicated email client).

The first thing to try is accessing your email account via a different browser. (Much as I hate it, Internet Explorer is good enough for the job and bound to be on your computer - or, if you've got Windows 10, try Edge instead). If everything is normal there (as I suspect it will be), return to Firefox. Then . . .

If you've not got the Menu Bar (File, Edit, etc) across the top of your screen, put it there. (Right-click at the top of your screen and tick the relevant box).

Go to Tools > Add-ons > Extensions. Note down the names of any extensions you're using (and wish to retain), as you're about to remove them.

Then go to Help > Troubleshooting Information and click on Refresh Firefox.

Return to Tools > Add-ons > Extensions, search for, and then reinstall, your extensions.

Cross your fingers and try accessing your email account again.

As always, many thanks Buenchico - will try that in a mo and get back to you - trying to sort the virus thingie now!

Did as you suggested Buenchico and as usual you have saved the day however I now only have sent items from prior to 12 Dec 2016! can live with that though - just one more question please if I'm not pushing my luck - the email I sent at lunch time was in fact to the wrong address -( I'd put an underscore in the wrong place) so that should have been returned right? Perhaps it takes longer than I've given it though.
Anyway, many thanks to you for the help.
Wrongly addressed emails might not get bounced if the recipient's server has a 'catch all' facility enabled.

For example, the email addresses given out by Oddthings Ltd, might be [email protected], [email protected], etc.

However, so that they don't miss any emails, they might use a 'catch all' facility, so that emails addressed to [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected]. etc all get accepted into their system (probably all ending up on the same person's computer, so that they can then forward them appropriately).

If that happens you won't get a 'bounce' message because your email has still been accepted by Oddthings Ltd's server.

Thank you Buenchico - it was to a family member. However, I've resent it with the address correction in place and await developments!
Will try and let you have peaceful evening now :-)
