In my Control Panel, Add and Remove programmes, currently installed programmes and updates, i have several lines of Security Updates for Windows XP followed by a number similiar to (KB2481109). If i leave these updates coming in they will keep on increasing.
Is it safe to remove them, how to do it, and if so how can i stop them arriving in future into my Add and Remove section? Thanks.

I'm a bit surprised you are getting updates, as Microsoft no longer support XP.
First update Remote Desktop Client (RDC) Version 7.0 by downloading it from the following websites:http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyId=72158b4e-b527-45e4-af24-d02938a95683&displaylang=en
Then, Run Windows update again and update KB2481109.
If they are in 'add and remove' they must be ones you received when they were supporting it.

I would leave them there, you won't get any more. However you will still be getting ones for Microsoft Security Essentials if you use that as your security.
Hopkirk has it. The link I posted will not open either. Hmmm XP is not being supported.
You could of course check that you have Remote Desktop Client version 7 installed. (RDC 7.0). This will help with any future MSE installs.

OK, the reason why i think i got the "updates" is that i completley restored my computer back to its factory state, reinstalled SPC3 and then it may appear i was just getting the updates up to the point where they were not supported. As you suggest, i will just leave them there and hope no more ghosts from the past will appear!
Lol Porkchop... that little bit of info would have been helpful. I rebuilt my desktop back in the summer after a hard drive failure. I put in a 2tb ss hybrid and ran the w7 disc that I had when it was new. After install it came up with the message that there were 127 updates available. I whittled them down to what was crucial, and then forced through the w10 upgrade with 2 days to spare before it was no longer free. When I say rebuilt, I took every card and the Mother board out. Repaired the power supply(cooked resistors), and fans and washed the fan blades and loom. I replaced the blue LED lights that had failed and put a soldering iron on a few dry joints mainly on the graphics card that my son had over clocked(gaming) causing it to get red hot. It is now a thing of beauty. :))
