Could any one tell me how my freind and I can exchange large files (say up to 700mb) over our broad band connection, preferably maximising our connection speeds?

If you are looking for something free, then AOL instant messenger allows you to transfer files to each other, over the internet. If you want something more direct, then a utility such as PCanywhere would do the job. Or go here and look for ftp software http://download.com.com/
