Is there a way of preventing a program from appearing on this list? I'm using XP. Thank you.

Unfourtunately, no there isn't
I've got 1 on there that doesn't exist!
You could try:

Open the registry, locate HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\uninstall. Serach under that key for the name of the 'remove' entry you want to get rid of. It should be found as a DisplayName value. Then delete that whole subkey of Uninstall.

If you don't understand the above, don't try it.

You will no longer be able to uninstall the relevant software without the original install disks. And even maybe then not.

"And even maybe then not". Have you ever done this? I was planning a practical joke, don't want to cause any harm.

I do understand how to SERACH under that key.
Thanks for your help.
Yes, I have done it. Several times. Not as a joke though.
