OK, so a few weeks back, i installed a new 180gig SATA hard drive, this has been working fine up until today, now what is happening is that all goes well until the Windows XP (home edition) screen loads, my monitor then goes black and comes up with a screen saying: No Signal!! and then goes on standby, the coputer is still running and has not shut down. Whats that all about? I can boot the PC from one of my 80 gig hard drives with WindowsXP pro, with no problem and from there I can access all my files from the affected hardrive. Is this a windows problem like I think it is? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!
Well it looks like I have sorted it, I started it in Safe Mode and done a system restore, that seems to have solved the problem but would still be interested to know what may have caused it.
The most likely cause is a corrupt or wrongly updated video driver - or a conflict with another driver. Nothing to do directly with your SATA drive, except of course, that that's where your system is stored!
Thanks rojash, I had installed some windows updates yesterday! After doing a system restore, I re-updated and all seems fine, I suppose it could have been a dodgy update file or maybe it just didn't install correctly.
