Side ways screen

My soninlaw has asked for some advice.
When he starts his laptop his desktop and pages appear sideways on screen. Anyone got any help. Thanks.

his icon tray is on the wrong side of the computer I think, tell him to drag it down to the bottom, might be wrong though

Yes, it would appear the Taskbar on a side of the screen other than the usual place, namely at the bottom. Using the mouse-pointer, CLICK the Taskbar and KEEP the left mouse button depressed; then move the Taskbar to the "bottom".
Failing that, turn the laptop through 90 degrees...!

He says the whole desktop and pages are on their side, not the taskbar.

It would appear that your son in law managed to press CTRL + ALT + Left Arrow.

To correct this problem simply click CTRL + ALT + Up Arrow.
