not ethel ...
I hope you'll take fourth best! ;-)
(I come under the heading of "anybody")
what player
what OS (vista/XP)
what transfer method - iTunes or simply dropping files into a usb disc
Have you just updated/changed the prog
just these 20 tunes ... or others as well
how much free space on player
what happens if you transfer each file individually
what bit/sample rate
file ripped or downloaded

If just these ... possibly re-coding the files will cure (some players get a little jumpy with some variable bitrate codecs

Hi ACtheTROLL, forgive me if I don`t know what you`re saying as I am a novice to PC lingo and not very into IT yet. My son gave me the MP3 player which was also given to him and he Downs`t savvy it either. There is no makers name on it other than USB voice recorder and 128m. It has downloaded 4 tracks previously but thats all the music on it. Does that help your salubrious diagnosis?
not really

by any chance does your player look like this?
http://www.advancedmp3players.co.uk/shop/produ ct_info.php?products_id=1396

if it does .... download
swift sound
http://www.nch.com.au/switch/index.html

and use it to recode the files .... sorry but it's that .... or delete the files

That player (and all the re badged variants) has a problem reading some MP3 files.
(variable bitrate MP3s tagged with track details)

there is also a problem with copying files on some cheaper players .... the best "fix" is to connect via USB .... and drag and drop the files over into the player
(copy paste will generate errors)
at that point my knowledge expires .....
