Just blocked the print head on my 5 week old epson dx7400 printer using compatible cartridges.
Is there any other make of photo printer worth its money that doesn't suffer froom blocked print heads or do they all do?

Hi 'woodchopper' ...I guess the problem has got to be using compatible cartridges instead of the 'real thing'....if you have used them before then it isn't that.
I've found, with a number of different printers, that the print heads become blocked unless they're used daily. As soon as a printer is left for a few days, the ink tends to dry and clog the nozzles.

I notice it particularly in the few hot days we get each summer but I've read that it's also a problem with the dry atmosphere in centrally heated homes. If you've got central heating, you might find that a small humidifier (25 from Argos) will make your atmosphere more comfortable, both for you and for your printer.
