Printer problem

I want to print out some photos, they look ok on screen but when they're printed they are too pink. I didn't use the printer for a while and then I tried compatible ink. Could this be the cause of the problem? Thanks a lot.

I have never used compatible ink, I always buy an original, sometimes from ebay, but I suppose it may be to blame.

Have you done a nozzle check to confirm all colours are printing? Try a cleaning cycle to clear any blockages.

Cheap inks may cause very slight colour shifts but they're usually hardly noticeable. A far greater cause of colour problems is cheap photo paper. You should also ensure that you're monitor is correctly set up. Use the test card, here:

(If you can't see the numbers 0 to 10 clearly on both lines, you shouldn't even consider printing anything until you've adjusted your monitor settings)

I have a Dell computer which has two CD drives, one a Reader and one a Re-Writer.

I wish to replace the CD reader with a DVD RE-Writer.

What is now the best type of DVD Re-Writer to install?
