snapped off 3.5mm jack plug - lodged in headphone socket

I can't seem to get this out of my laptop as its wedged in

the IT hardware team at work had a look and they haven't managed it either

does anyone know any shops that can fix it ? or offer any other advice

how much is left in? can you see it or is it deep inside.If you can see it,is it possible to gently screw in a very fine screw (suitable size might be the ones holding VHS cassettes together) and then pull on that?

i can see it, it is maybe a cm inside but the way it snapped off the end is flush - nothing could be screwed in

if unscrewed the bottom tray off the laptop but that didnt help at all

How steady a hand have you ?! A smidgin of super glue applied to the part you were left with might bond to the internal piece.I think you'd need to use the merest trace of one of the gel types to avoid making things worse by glueing the lot up.

If you take the cover off, you can probably just poke it out from the inside...

Rojash - yes, it's not possible

Ianmunt - someone else has suggested that, am gonna give it a try on monday i think

however what do you think about using this - Konig USB 2.0 Sound Card 5.1. it plugs into the usb and has a headphone socket on it

the usb option sounds a risk free approach,you pays your money and takes your choice!!

I've got to know ... how the hell did you break it off so deep ???
as for getting it out ... I'm assuming that it's the tip that's still in there which will be held in by the spring of the tip clip
plus ... if you've dropped it .... it's probably bent the central conductor ... you could well have pushed the assembly out of true .... or broken the plastic sleeve.

but generally the earphone socket is a sealed unit

if that's the only problem cut your losses and go for the usb option

Yer.... i did the same thing yesterday... gah it sucks cant listen to anything anymore... and it was an expensive pair of earphones 2... the screw idia wouldnt work but i mite try the glue, or open it up and push it out, but knowing my luck id brake somthing
