outlook express - help

I Was spammed months ago and had to set up a separate e mail account. I would like to delete the 5000 e mails that I have on outlook express ( it wont' let me delete).

There must be a way that I can clear them all down.
If you know please in simple terms only.

If you can't delete them, can you move them?

First, try this:
Right-click on 'Local folders'. Select 'New folder'. Enter a name, such as 'Spam', and click 'OK'.

Click on 'Inbox' (or whatever folder the unwanted mail is in). Select all of the relevant emails (or at least some of them - you can always move more afterwards). Remember that you can select a whole block of emails by clicking on the first one and then holding down the Shift key while clicking on the last one. (To select lots of separate emails, click on the first one, then hold down the Ctrl key while clicking on the others in turn. To select all mail, click on one email, then go to Edit > Select All).

Right-click on any highlighted email. It might be worth selecting 'Delete' to see if it will work. If it's not available, or doesn't work, select 'Move to folder'. Click on 'Spam' and click 'OK'.

Then right-click on 'Spam' and select 'Delete'.

If that doesn't work, try this:
NB: This method deletes your entire Inbox (and then recreates it). Don't use it if there's anything in your Inbox which you want to keep!

Assuming that all of the unwanted mail is in your Inbox, get rid of everything else (i.e. the stuff you want to keep) by moving it to another folder (as per the instructions above), or printing the mail out or copying the text and pasting it into Word documents.

When you're absolutely sure that you're happy to delete everything in your Inbox, close Outlook Express. Go to Start > Search and look for Inbox.dbx. Right-click on the file and select 'Delete'. Restart your PC. (I'm not sure that's necessary but I've always done it, just to be on the safe side). Start Outlook Express and a brand new (empty) Inbox will magically appear.
