Have you heard about Phorm and Virgin media's, BT & Talk Talk's plans for implementing this technology?
Google Phorm and then tell me if your anti spyware, adware programs will be worth running. I'm as mad as hell thinking your ISP will log your surfing activities, profile your interests and sell the information to Phorm so they may 'target their ads'
Seriously, Please look up Phorm (there are a few sites pop up on google - for a balanced view) and tell me if I'm paranoid. I've signed the petition, http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/ispphorm/
Hope you do too.

your habits are already logged ... by law - and the records are kept for three years.

I honestly don't imagine that a petition will do much good ... almost every comercial website logs your visits (that's what cookies do) and often "trend" monitoring as well.

if you want a connection ... you have to agree to the terms and conditions ... don't agree ... go elsewhere!

the ISP will simply argue that the extra revenue keeps your tariff low ...

and remember ... if you don't agree ...... big brother WILL pay you a visit
Adverts on web pages are already targeted to you anyway. How many times do you see adverts for local services? They're determined from your IP address which websites keep a log of, so they already know where in the country you live.

i agree that sites can collect data and its there for special reasons, but to what happens to the data that they collect ? who will they sell it to? the guy who set phorm up has a history of spyware and i honestly cant believe large companies like bt and talk talk are even considering this. it would be ok if they made it an opt in system, but they plan to make it an opt out meaning some people will never know about it, i have read the t&c's with bt and can find anywhere that tells me i have to allow them to spy on every email or post i make on a forum.

ACtheTROLL . You 're demeaning response is a surprise. Patronizing me with ignorant insights and childish explanations on this thread make me believe you've spread yourself a bit too thin.
