I have just installed a new printer using add printer for my friend all the documents are in English but printer properties are in German I have tried deleting it and starting again but it still installs German Printed a test page the top 6 lines are all in English but the files downloaded are in German

Try this:
Uninstall the printer driver
Open Regional and Language Options from the control panel
On the Regional Options tab ensure that English (UK) is selected.
On the Advanced tab, ensure that English (UK) is selected for non-Unicode programs
Click OK (you may need to restart the machine)
Re-install the printer driver

thanks for your answer in the meantime my friend has been back to PC world and it is a problem they have encountered before I hace asked my friend to return it to them and they will replace If the new one doen't work I will try your method
